●      Call for Papers, L. Sergius Catilina – history and tradition, Lublin, Poland, 14-15.11.2023: 

We are happy to be able to send you the call for papers for the fourth conference „The greate characters of the Roman world”, which will take place at Lublin, Poland, 14-15. 11. 2023. After Sulla, Marc Anthony and Spartacus now we have chosen Lucius Sergius Catilina as our leading theme and this year meeting is called L. Sergius Catilina – history and tradition. We invite both established and early career scholars. The proposals should focuse on the history of Catiline’s period, Catiline himself, his collaborators, friends and foes and the reception of him in the later epochs and cultures. The analysis of the inner Republican mechanis as exemplified in Catiline’s actions and reasons are also welcome. The organizers – the Ancient History Group of the Institute of History, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin, Poland, and the Polish Society of Ancient Studies – expect applications by September 4, 2023. The titles with a short summaries should be sent to Paweł Madejski (pawel.madejski[at]mail.umcs.pl). Further information will be sent by mid-September 2023. The form of the Conference will be hybrid. We anticipate a small entry fee of PLN 250 (posters, programs, coffee bars, lunch etc.) only for the Conference participants who decide to come to Lublin at their own expense.
